THE 11TH EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON GENDER EQUALITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Universities, in collaboration with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the support of the European Network on Gender Equality in Higher Education and other Spanish stakeholders, is pleased to invite you to the 11th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education that will be held online during September 15-17, 2021.
Our aim is to promote a gender-sensitive culture in our academic and R&I systems in light of the global challenges ahead of us. The contributions received will strengthen the well-established debates on gender equality in higher education and research as well as encourage mainstreaming the gender perspective in new domains such as national and regional funding agencies and the innovation sector.
The academic and institutional community behind the 11th European Conference is designing a high-level academic programme and also parallel networking activities that will help make this Conference more lively and interesting for you and will contribute to consolidate this European network.
Although the mission of the 11th GEHE Conference included joining all the participants in Madrid in September 2020, the situation of the pandemic in different countries has led to a mixed approach where most participants will be involved in the Conference activities through an online platform. However, the Conference will include online networking activities in order to let participants benefit from this gender and science network.

TOPICS
The 11th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education welcomes high-level contributions to be evaluated by our Scientific Committee in the following topics:
• Gender approaches in fostering scientific-technical vocations, especially in STEM fields
Integration of the gender dimension in university teaching (undergraduate, postgraduate and pre-doctoral training)
• Policies fostering the incorporation of the gender dimension into the content of research, knowledge transfer and innovation
• Policies fostering structural change for gender equality in the research, technology and innovation system
• Gender Equality Plans and strategies in research, technology and innovation institutions
Moreover, given the implications of the COVID-19 for the different dimensions of gender equality policies in R&I, a new topic has been added:
• Impact of the COVID-19 and the confinement on women’s research careers as well as the role of sex/gender analysis in transdisciplinary research on COVID-19
With two cross-cutting dimensions for all the conference areas:
• Gender and Intersectionality
• Application to Polytechnic Universities, including special focus on STEM fields and Women in STEM, as well as on STEM-SSH interdisciplinarity
